Central Texas landscape with lawn, planting beds, stone, grade changes, and water movement

Landscape, Drainage & Water-Smart Property Solutions for Central Texas

We help homeowners, property managers, HOAs, and small commercial properties improve how their outdoor spaces grow, drain, use water, and function. Our work includes landscape planning, sod and planting improvements, drainage and runoff solutions, soil and slope improvements, property cleanup, and light site preparation built around Central Texas conditions.

Owner-operated and field-focused

Built Around the Property, Not a One-Size-Fits-All Package

Every property has different soil, slopes, sunlight, drainage, plant needs, access limitations, and maintenance goals. We look at how those conditions work together, then develop practical options for improving the landscape and outdoor space.

Landscape & Property Services

Landscape Planning & Property Improvements

Practical planning for turf, planting beds, drainage, slopes, soil conditions, access, and phased property improvements. We help property owners organize priorities and determine which improvements make the most sense for the site.

Landscape Beds & Plant Installation

Bed preparation, plant and shrub installation, mulch, decorative rock, edging, soil improvement, and renovation of existing landscape areas based on sunlight, drainage, mature plant size, and maintenance needs.

Sod Installation & Lawn Renovation

Removal of damaged turf, soil and surface preparation, targeted soil improvement, minor grade correction, sod installation, and practical establishment guidance.

Drainage, Runoff & Erosion Solutions

Investigation and improvement of standing water, downspout discharge, surface runoff, erosion, washouts, poor drainage paths, and problem areas affecting turf, planting beds, walkways, and outdoor spaces.

Complex structural, foundation, floodplain, or engineered drainage concerns may require a qualified specialist.

Landscape Water Management

Practical strategies for improving how water moves through and supports the landscape, including runoff reduction, soil infiltration, slope management, plant-water needs, drought stress, drainage conditions, and efficient watering practices.

Property Cleanup & Light Site Preparation

Vegetation cleanup, unwanted landscape-material removal, small-area clearing, bed and sod preparation, debris consolidation, minor surface adjustment, and targeted preparation for outdoor improvements.

Equipment-assisted work is evaluated individually based on project size, access, hauling, disposal, rental requirements, and site conditions.

Soil, Slope & Site Improvements

Small-scale improvements for compacted soil, poor infiltration, erosion, difficult slopes, dry areas, plant stress, and challenging Central Texas growing conditions.

Additional service

Additional Property Service: Pressure Washing

Pressure washing may be available for driveways, sidewalks, patios, selected exterior surfaces, and cleanup support. It may be requested as a standalone service or included with a broader property-improvement project.

Water-smart planning

Better Landscapes Begin With Better Water Decisions

Healthy landscapes depend on more than simply adding water. Soil absorption, slopes, plant selection, sun exposure, runoff, drainage, watering frequency, and visible water distribution all affect the result. Our field experience helps us look at how those conditions work together and recommend practical improvements for the property.

Designed for Central Texas Conditions

Central Texas landscapes face expansive clay soil, limestone, intense summer heat, uneven rainfall, drought stress, steep grades, erosion, and fast runoff. Successful outdoor improvements begin with understanding how those conditions affect the specific property.

Scope clarity

Focused on Work We Can Properly Plan and Deliver

We are best suited for landscape improvements, drainage and runoff projects, sod and planting work, property cleanup, light site preparation, and targeted small-to-medium outdoor projects. Larger or equipment-dependent work is reviewed individually before it is accepted.

Some projects may require rented equipment, outside hauling, additional labor, or specialized partners. Those requirements are identified and included in the project scope before work begins.

About the owner

Hands-On Experience Behind Every Project

Central Texas Groundworks & Consulting LLC is owner-operated by Garth Nixon, a Certified Irrigation Technician with approximately 10 years of hands-on experience managing irrigation, turf, landscapes, and outdoor property conditions at a Central Texas golf course.

That work involved much more than keeping grass green. It included managing irrigation performance across changing elevations and soil conditions, completing landscape projects, building and improving planting beds, addressing drainage and runoff problems, controlling erosion, installing and maintaining landscape rock, troubleshooting difficult turf areas, and helping outdoor spaces perform under intense Central Texas heat and drought conditions.

Garth started Central Texas Groundworks & Consulting to bring that same practical, detail-focused approach to homeowners, property managers, HOAs, and small commercial properties. He enjoys taking an outdoor space that is struggling, unfinished, or difficult to maintain and helping turn it into something healthier, more functional, and more visually appealing.

The goal is to listen to what the property owner wants, understand what the site will realistically support, and bring those improvements to life with clear communication, careful planning, and hands-on work.

I have always enjoyed bringing landscape improvements and outdoor spaces to life. After years of doing that work in a demanding golf-course environment, I wanted to bring the same care, problem-solving, and attention to detail to homeowners and properties throughout Central Texas.
